The server virtualization marketplace has been evolving rapidly, and IDC has seen customer adoption of x86 server virtualization mature rapidly - with the average number of virtual machines (VMs) per physical server increasing, the types of workloads trending toward enterprise applications, and the hypervisor being leveraged for extended use cases such as high availability and disaster recovery.
