A North American perspective from Reg readers

We polled readers of The Register in North America all about virtualization use in their data centers. The key findings show that server consolidation is still seen as one of the most important drivers of virtualization – with activity in Windows environments running significantly ahead of that on Linux or other platforms.

The majority of our NA readers that responded are focussing on virtualizing their application servers, web servers, departmental apps and their web apps – whilst the commercial applications and workloads are taking a distinct back seat.
