Licensing Issues
The agenda for this event was set by the thousands of you who completed our recent Virtualization research. You wanted to know more and we delivered a vigorous debate that cut through the marketing puffery and delivered you the bottom line on Virtualization.
This particular 30 minute presentation, hosted by independent analysts Freeform Dynamics, looks in detail at how virtualization effects data center software licensing?
The presentation points out that we're currently seeing multiple approaches to virtualization technology that include running a single operating and many applications and running multiple operating systems. The big question though is how are the software makers reacting to this shift are they tweaking their licenses appropriately or has the industry still got some catching up to do? And what about the Web and Application Server vendors, are they on top of their game when it comes to licensing in virtualized environments?
For those of you trying to assess the impact of licensing on a Virtualized infrastructure this presentation will provide an important guide to your analysis.
