Accelerating High-Concurrency Genomics Workloads

Driving better patient outcomes in life sciences

Published April 2017

High data growth rates are a fact of life across many different industries. In the life science market, increasing use of whole genome sequencing to drive better patient outcomes and other medical research is driving massive data growth. A single human genome requires roughly 5TB of storage capacity to produce and creates a 500GB sequenced genome file that must be stored.

The ability to cost effectively and rapidly sequence whole human genomes using high-performance computing and storage infrastructure is fuelling growth of precision medicine and promises to fundamentally change the way medicine is practised over both the near term and the long term.
