Who’s afraid of the big, bad botnet?

The dangers, and how to guard against them

If you haven't had any of your key systems or services brought down by a DDoS attack, you are among the lucky ones.

Distributed denial of service (DDoS) attacks, where a network of hijacked or hired computers floods a target’s systems, can now be bought for the price of a cheeseburger — and with IoT devices being incorporated into weaponised botnets, the capability available to hackers is immense. Simply hoping that your business is not important enough to be targeted becomes an increasingly poor strategy.

But what do you do about it?

Simply increasing the scale of your infrastructure to soak up an attack won’t work any more.

If you want to know what the dangers are and how to guard against them, tune in to our Big Bad Botnet broadcast. We’ll give you the usual mix of deep-dive advice and good conversation from stalwart analysts Freeform Dynamics and guests Arbor Networks, carefully corralled by our canny host Jon Collins.

While the botnet problem is not going away any time soon, nor are we. There’s plenty you can do to protect your organisation so tune in to find out more.
