According to Forrester, the majority of enterprises report their top priorities as creating a better customer experience, better leveraging of big data and reducing IT costs. At the same time, their existing, on-premises relational database management system (RDBMS) technologies and data warehouse (DW) appliances are becoming too expensive to maintain and scale.

As a result, 78% of enterprises are planning to increase their off-premises data management in the next 12 months. By moving data management to modern data platforms — on public or private clouds — these enterprises can take full advantage of purpose-built frameworks.
