The unpredictability and overwhelming volume of distributed denial of service (DDoS) incursions can bring business operations to a standstill. They have to be stopped at all costs; but can you afford it?

The unrelenting onslaught of cyber attacks in recent times has been unprecedented. Prior to the chaos brought about by the recent WannaCry ransomware, the Mirai malware similarly shut down many organisations in the US and Europe in 2016. The cause of the widespread disruption was distributed denial of service (DDoS) attack. In such intrusions, the perpetrators bombard a server with attack traffic—through a network of computers and other devices infected with “botnets”— until it crashes under the strain.
